Preliminary Assessments

To join Maths Doctor we first conduct a Preliminary Assessment to identify your exact learning requirements. We have two methods of conducting this assessment and by far the most successful is the tutor led Live-Online assessment.
The Tutor Led Live-Online Assessment
This will involve a specialist tutor calling the student on the phone at a pre arranged appointment time.
- The student will be directed to our members area where the tutor will appear on the computer screen with a web cam and an interactive online whiteboard.
- The tutor will display questions on the screen and discuss with the student whether they feel the questions are easy, medium or hard.
- The tutor will be able to write on the screen using a digital pen and the student is encouraged to also write on the screen using their mouse, but this is optional.
No special equipment or software is required, just a telephone and a computer with broadband connection.
This process is highly interactive and is suitable for learners at all levels, particularly those who are very young, shy or lack confidence.
The assessments will generally take up to 30 minutes and will allow the assessing tutor to gain a clear understanding of the student’s current level, their learning style and how we can best help them to reach their potential.
After the assessment the assessing tutor will be in a position to discuss with the student or parent which programs and learning routes would be most suitable and the various costs involved. You can then decide how you would like to proceed.
To book a Preliminary Assessment, please use the Contact Us Page. We will then respond to confirm an appointment time at which a suitable tutor will call you and the student.
The alternative method of Preliminary Assessment is to request a Personal Learning Plan. (click here)
