Being an effective tutor in mathematics or physics requires an up to date knowledge of the national curriculum and the different exam structures for each of the main exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel, ISEB 11+ & 13+, MEI) so that the lessons can be tailored to the students individual requirements.

For example there are over 12 different exams types that can lead to a GCSE and this qualification has changed every year for the last 4 years.

Keeping up to date with changes to the curriculum, at all levels, is a challenging and time consuming task. For individuals that do private tuition alongside their main job “as a bit of extra money”, it may not always be possible to devote the time and energy required to ensure they are following each student’s curriculum correctly.

At Maths Doctor our tutors are supported by a centralised team of qualified and experienced teachers who ensure that for every student an accurate learning plan is created to provide a framework of study for the tutor to follow. This allows our tutors to focus on what they do best: the delivery of a quality learning experience; whilst our centralised team focus on the latest developments and changes to the national curriculum and determine which of the many exams paths each individual student is enrolled on.
